You’ll have to buy decorations, supplies, a good bed for microblading, money for marketing, and pay the rent. ?You should save up to have a reserve of money as you begin your process of branding and marketing.
The first step to becoming a microblading artist is to take a certification course and apply for an apprenticeship if made necessary by your local health authority (Nevada requires a 6-month apprenticeship). ?Complete all prerequisites and gain your body art card.
One of the most important things about your business is going to be its location. ?Are you going to do a standalone facility or are you going to rent a space in a multi-use building like a sola salon? As an entry-level microblading artist, I always recommend you start small. ?The average rent at a sola salon is about $1000 for a 10×10 space, all in. You don’t have to worry about any utilities or insurance, making it much easier to run your business. The space must meet health department requirements which include, but are not limited to, nonporous flooring and surfaces, a sink with hot and cold water, and at least 100 sqft of space. ?You’ll want to keep your room tidy and to health department standards because surprise inspections regularly occur. Choose a space that has a good anchor. An anchor is another business in your immediate area that gets really good foot traffic. That’s free advertising! Imagine being right next to a Starbucks, for example!
