Whereas traditional tattooing uses needles on a rotary/coil machine to push ink 7 layers deep into the skin, microblading uses a manual blade and only targets 3 layers of skin. Because the pigment sits so superficially in the skin the strokes are sharp, crisp, and they mimic the look of real hair! Your new brows will last anywhere between 1-3 years predicated on the environmental exposure it receives. Microblading pigments are all organic and will not change color as they lose saturation over time. The cost of microblading training is roughly $3000 for a 3 day course.  Some states, like Nevada, require a 6 month apprenticeship.  The apprenticeship is required so that the health department makes sure all tattoo artists are well educated in body substance isolation and the prevention of spreading communicable diseases. Technically, you can start making money immediately under your mentor soon after you take the course and are confident in your abilities. The average ticket item for microblading ranges from $350-$700 based on experience

Eyelash extension procedures are performed by licensed aestheticians.  The artist uses a gentle bonding glue to add individual lashes to create a much fuller look.  Eyelash extensions are very popular.  In order to become a lash artist, you must first become an aesthetician.  The cost of aesthetics school ranges in the $15000-$20000 and can take a full year to complete.  Following that certification you will need to take a 3-4 day lash course that averages $1500. The average ticket item for a lash artist is roughly $150.  

When you compare the two, its very clear that microblading is the easier field to get into with a stronger return on investment.
